Furniture Removal Liverpool

What we take and what we cannot

Every furniture removal Liverpool job covers household and office furniture, white goods and electricals. We cannot take asbestos, chemicals, paint, gas bottles or clinical waste. Those need a specialist licensed contractor, and we will tell you straight away if an item falls outside what we handle.

What we take:

  • Sofas, corner sofas, sofa beds, recliners, armchairs and footstools
  • Beds, divans, bed frames and mattresses of any size
  • Wardrobes, chests of drawers, bedside tables and dressing tables
  • Dining tables, chairs, sideboards and display cabinets
  • Fridges, freezers, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers and cookers
  • Televisions, computers, printers and small electricals
  • Desks, office chairs, pedestals and filing cabinets
  • Carpets, rugs, underlay, curtains, blinds and mirrors
  • Garden furniture, parasols, BBQs and outdoor storage

What we cannot take:

  • Asbestos in any form
  • Paint, solvents, oil and household chemicals
  • Gas bottles, aerosols and fire extinguishers
  • Clinical or medical waste

If you are unsure about an item, send a photo before you book.

Sofa removal Liverpool and why upholstery costs more

Sofa removal Liverpool jobs carry a separate disposal fee, and it is worth knowing why rather than being surprised by it. Since 2023, upholstered furniture containing persistent organic pollutants must be incinerated rather than landfilled or recycled. That covers most soft seating.

POPs are flame retardant chemicals used in sofa foam, fabric and padding. The law now requires this material to be kept separate from other waste and burned at a permitted facility. It cannot be mixed into a general load, and it cannot be resold.

In practice this affects:

  • Two-seaters, three-seaters and corner sofas
  • Sofa beds, including the mattress inside them
  • Armchairs, recliners and footstools
  • Office chairs with padded seats
  • Cushions and covers that came with the seating

Any operator quoting you a rock bottom price for a sofa is either absorbing that cost or not disposing of it properly. Ask which.

We take all sofa types, including large corner units. Our sofa removal Liverpool service also covers the sofa in a rental property when a tenancy ends.

Beds, mattresses and wardrobes

Our furniture removal Liverpool service takes mattresses of every size. Mattresses are banned from landfill and go to a dedicated processor that separates the springs, foam and fabric. We take every size, from cot mattresses to super kings, and we do not need them bagged or wrapped beforehand.

Wardrobes are the item people most often ask about. Flat pack wardrobes usually come apart easily. Solid or older wardrobes frequently will not fit through a modern doorway in one piece, particularly in Victorian terraces where the wardrobe went in before a stud wall was added.

Divan bases split into two halves in most cases. Metal bed frames come apart at the corners. Tell us the bed type when you call and we will bring the right tools.

Fridges, cookers and white goods

Fridges and freezers are degassed at a licensed facility before the shell is recycled, so they carry a separate fee. We take under-counter, integrated, American-style, and chest freezers. They do not need defrosting, but empty them first.

Two things to check before the day:

Gas cookers: If yours has a bayonet fitting, you can disconnect it yourself. If it is hard-piped, you need a Gas Safe registered engineer to disconnect it before we can take it. We cannot disconnect gas.

Integrated appliances: Anything built into a kitchen unit needs removing from the housing first, or tell us, and we will allow extra time.

Washing machines, dryers and dishwashers should be disconnected and drained. If they are still plumbed in, say so when you book.

Would the council bulky collection be cheaper?

Sometimes yes, and we will tell you. Liverpool City Council runs a bulky household item collection that is often cheaper than a private carrier. If you have one or two standard items, no deadline, and you can get them to the kerbside yourself, check the council route first.

Where the council service does not work:

  • You need it gone today. Council collections are scheduled, often a week or more ahead.
  • You cannot get it outside. Council crews collect from the kerb only. We collect from any room.
  • You have more than the item limit, or the item is not on their accepted list.
  • You are clearing a whole property. Bulky collections do not cover full clearances.

You can also take furniture for free to Old Swan Household Waste Recycling Centre on Cheadle Avenue, but note that arriving in a van requires a booked appointment. A furniture removal Liverpool booking with us costs money. The council route may not. We would rather you knew.

Furniture disposal Liverpool, what it costs

Furniture disposal Liverpool pricing depends on the number of items, the type and the access, not on how long we are there. We quote before booking, and the agreed figure does not change on the day. Quotes are free with no callout charge.

Four things move the price:

  • Item count and size. A single armchair costs far less than a three-piece suite.
  • Item type. Upholstered furniture, mattresses, fridges and tyres carry separate legal disposal costs.
  • Access. Upper floors with no lift, no parking, or a long carry adds time.
  • Dismantling. If a wardrobe needs taking apart, that is labour time.

Our furniture removal Liverpool quotes are fixed, not hourly. You will not pay more because a job took longer than expected.

Do you dismantle furniture?

Yes. We dismantle beds, wardrobes, flat-pack units and anything else that will not fit through a doorway in one piece. You do not need to take it apart before we arrive. Several companies require items to be dismantled before collection. We do not.

Tell us when you book if something needs taking apart, so we allow the time and bring tools. Large solid wardrobes and fitted units take the longest.

The one thing we cannot do is disconnect gas or plumbing. Anything hard-piped needs a qualified engineer first.

Getting it out of the property

Most furniture removal Liverpool jobs here are in terraced or converted properties, and the route out matters more than the item itself. Send photos of the room, the doorway, the stairs and where the van can park. We plan the route before arriving rather than working it out on your doorstep.

Three things that genuinely affect a job in this city:

Terraced hallways. Narrow, with a turn at the bottom of the stairs. Three-seater sofas sometimes came in before a wall was built. If yours did, tell us.

Converted flats and tenement stairs. Older conversions around the city centre and Toxteth have tight winding staircases. Corner sofas rarely make the bend intact.

Back jiggers. The alleys behind terraced streets are too tight for a van, so we park on the street and carry.

Two people handle every job, so nothing needs bringing downstairs first.

Landlords, letting agents and end of tenancy

We handle furniture removal Liverpool wide for landlords, letting agents and managed properties across Liverpool. Tenants leave furniture behind, and the property needs emptying before the next let. You do not need to attend. Give us access details and we send photographs of each cleared room.

Every collection comes with a waste transfer note on request. Letting agents and landlords need this for their own duty of care records, and we keep the paperwork on every job. You can check any carrier, including us, on the Environment Agency public register.

For a whole property rather than selected items, our house clearance service is priced by volume and usually works out better.

Areas we cover

Our furniture removal Liverpool service covers every city postcode and the surrounding towns. We work these streets daily rather than travelling in from outside Merseyside.

Across Liverpool: city centre, Old Swan and the east of the city, south Liverpool, north Liverpool and everywhere between.

Surrounding areas: Bootle, Crosby, Maghull, Huyton, Prescot, Knowsley, Widnes, St Helens, Birkenhead and Wallasey.

How it works

Four steps from call to collection, often the same day. Nothing needs moving, bagging or dismantling beforehand. Photos help us quote accurately, especially for large or awkward items.

  1. Send photos or describe the items. Include the room and the stairs.
  2. Get a fixed price. Free, no obligation, and it does not change on the day.
  3. Pick a slot. Same day usually available, including evenings and weekends.
  4. We carry it out and go. Two people, all lifting done, floor swept.

For general household waste rather than furniture, see rubbish removal across Liverpool. For moving furniture between properties rather than disposing of it, our man with a van service is the one you want.

Frequently asked questions

Will you take furniture in good condition for free?

No. Every collection carries a cost because disposal and labour cost us money, regardless of the item’s condition. If your furniture is genuinely usable, a local charity may collect it free. Several Merseyside charities do. Call them first if you are not working to a deadline.

No, provided we can access the items and the price is agreed beforehand. Landlords and letting agents book this way regularly. We send photographs once the room is clear and take payment remotely. Items must be reachable without entering a locked property.

Usually the same day. We run furniture removal Liverpool collections 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including bank holidays, so evening and weekend slots are available. Call rather than email if you need us today, since availability changes through the day.

A waste transfer note on request. Every load goes to a licensed waste transfer station and we keep the documentation. Landlords, letting agents and executors often need this for their duty of care records, and we provide it without charge.

Usually. Two people handle every job and we plan the route before arriving. Corner sofas in older converted flats are the hardest, and occasionally a sofa genuinely will not come out intact. We will tell you honestly before booking rather than discovering it on the day.

Yes. Rattan sets, wooden benches, plastic chairs, parasols, BBQs, garden storage boxes and outdoor tables. If there is green waste alongside it, our garden waste and green bin collections cover that separately.
